Dr. Schmidt injects dermal fillers at key aging sites in the face, where they can plump up skin and smooth wrinkles from within. Dermal fillers can also lift sagging skin and fill in hollow areas, restoring youthful contours to the face. Individuals with volume loss in the lips may also benefit from dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers are different than injectables such as BOTOX^®, which relax tissue to remove wrinkles. Dr. Schmidt’s expertise in skin rejuvenation and background in facial anatomy allows him to determine which technique will produce the most effective and natural results.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, a substance that the body produces naturally to protect skin, joints and more. The fillers come as gels that, once injected into the face, assimilate with skin tissue.

Dr. Schmidt uses a range of dermal filler products (including Belotero, Juvéderm^® and Radiesse^®) to address everything from surface creases to deep wrinkles or volume loss. Belotero is specifically designed to eliminate precise, superficial wrinkles such as lines around the mouth. Juvéderm^® and Radiesse^® work deeper in the skin to smooth folds and restore lost volume.

Along with reshaping and smoothing skin tissue, dermal fillers also stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen. This means fillers don’t just change the way your skin looks–they actually help your skin revitalize itself.

Jaw Fillers

If you feel self-conscious about your jawline due to asymmetry or a lack of definition, Dr. Schmidt can enhance this feature with fillers, adding volume and enhancing your overall facial aesthetics. By strategically injecting fillers in targeted areas, Dr. Schmidt can correct any imbalances or irregularities, such as tapering a square jawline. Since these products promote natural collagen production, jaw fillers can also help restore elasticity to sagging skin.

Results and recovery

While each patient experiences different results, typically the effect of dermal fillers are noticeable for between eight and twelve months. Juvéderm^® Voluma, which Dr. Schmidt uses to restore hollowing and aging in the cheek area, produces results that can last upwards of two years.

Again, recovery will vary among patients, but generally speaking very little downtime is required after injection. Some swelling or bruising may occur immediately after the procedure, and most patients can return to normal activity within a week.
